Concept

Frontiere. Ci sono linee mobili che mutano, limiti estremi oltre i quali spingersi, avventurarsi, cercare la strada, confini che si dissolvono da vanti all’incedere curioso, verso lo spazio ignoto che custodiscono. Sono le frontiere, linee tratteggiate di transito.

Varcare le frontiere vuol dire uscire dallo spazio del consueto e del lecito per entrare in quello dell’incertezza; vuol dire accettare una sfida, andare oltre, anche contro il volere degli dei, contro le forze della superstizione che imbrigliano e trattengono.

Le frontiere ammettono anche la scelta di rimanerne al di qua, in un porto tranquillo dalle sponde sicure; consentono la decisione di prolungare il viaggio, di arrivare ad Itaca da vecchi carichi di tesori, senza attese di ricompensa.

La frontiera è tutto quello che rimane dopo, guardando indietro; è il viaggio sulla strada, sul crinale dell’esistenza, prima dell’ultima curva, oltre il mistero della vita.

Sono tante declinazioni, solo suggerite, per un tema che saranno le immagini a raccontare. Il progetto fotografico dovrà essere accompagnato da un testo narrativo che inquadri la scelta del tema e come si è pensato di trattarlo attraverso lo straordinario potenziale comunicativo delle immagini.

Come partecipare?

Per partecipare al concorso è necessario presentare:

  • Il contest è riservato ai giovani fotografi under 35
  • Modulo compilato con breve biografia dell’artista/collettivo e testo di spiegazione del progetto che si intende presentare (massimo 1500 battute, spazi inclusi);
  • Da 5 a 10 fotografie alla massima definizione nominate nel seguente modo: nome.cognome_titoloprogetto_01,…02,…03
  • Liberatoria per il trattamento dei dati personali e per l’uso delle immagini sui social da parte degli addetti alla comunicazione del premio;
  • Tutti i materiali possono essere inviati esclusivamente in formato digitale tramite il sito gratuito di file sharing WeTransfer, all’indirizzo mail palazzorasponi2@comune.ra.it entro e non oltre il 30 Gennaio 2017;
  • I candidati possono inviare, facoltativamente, anche una descrizione delle modalità di allestimento (tipo di carta fotografica e supporto, ideale grandezza delle stampe) che aiuterà la commissione a comprendere meglio i caratteri tecnici del progetto;

Si invitano tutti i partecipanti al concorso a pubblicare le immagini su Instagram, usando gli hashtag: #PR2 #camerawork_ra #cameracall

Premi

I tre vincitori esporranno, per un periodo di tre settimane, nello spazio PR2 del Comune di Ravenna. Le spese di produzione, di allestimento e di soggiorno dell’artista, durante l’opening, saranno a carico del Comune.

Oltre ai tre premi, la giuria si riserva di istituire una menzione speciale per un progetto ritenuto particolarmente meritevole.

Concept

Borders. There are mobile lines that change, extreme limits beyond which to push our self, venture, looking for the road, borders that dissolve in front of the curious gait, towards the unknown space that they guard. They are borders, dashed transit lines.

Crossing borders means leaving the usual and lawful space to enter inside the uncertainty space; it means accepting a challenge, going further, even against the will of the gods, against the forces of superstition that harness and hold back.

Borders also allow the choice to remain on this side, in a quiet port with safe sides; allow the decision to extend the trip, to get to Ithaca from old loads of treasures, without waiting for a reward.

The frontier is all that remains after, looking back; it is the journey on the road, on the ridge of existence, before the last corner, beyond the mystery of life.

There are many variations, only suggested, for a theme that will be the images to tell.

The photographic project must be accompanied by a narrative text that frames the choice of the theme and how it was thought to treat it through the extraordinary communicative potential of the images.

How to participate?

To participate in the competition it is necessary to submit:

  • The contest is reserved for young photographer under 35
  • Form filled in with a short biography of the artist/collective and explanatory text of the project which he/she intends to present (maximum 1500 keystrokes, including spaces);
  • From 5 to 10 photographs in the highest definition named as follows: name.surname_projectitle_01;
  • Authorisation to those in charge of communicating the award to process personal data and to use the images on social networks;
  • All the materials can be sent exclusively in digital format through the free file-sharing website WeTransfer, to the address palazzorasponi2@comune.ra.it not later than 30 January 2017;
  • The candidates can also, optionally, send a description of the set-up methods (type of photographic paper and support, ideal size of prints) which will help the commission to better understand the technical characteristics of the project.

All participants in the competition are also invited to publish the images on Instagram, using the hashtag #PR2 #camerawork_ra #cameracall.

Prizes

The three winners will exhibit for three weeks, in the PR2 centre of the Municipality of Ravenna. The production, set-up and accommodation expenses of the artist, during the opening, will be incurred by the Municipality.

In addition to the three prizes, the jury reserves the right to establish a special mention for a project they consider particularly deserving.
